Mark your calendars: The nation’s largest sustainable farm tour is in your backyard and readily approaching!

The 24th Annual Piedmont Farm Tour connects our friends, families, neighbors, and customers to 40+ local farms across Alamance, Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Johnston, Orange, Person, and Wake Counties.

Come pet baby animals, smell the flowers, and devour delicious fruits, mushrooms, veggies, dairy, and meat produced in the Piedmont!

Cost:
– Buy a pass in advance: $30 (per car for ALL farms, ALL weekend)
– CFSA Members save $5 in advance
– Day of registration is $35
– Visit just one farm for $10

Your button is your car pass – good for a full carload of people. Passes can be purchased online now at CFSA’s website or in-person at various Weaver Street Market locations starting in April.

*Some farms are able to open earlier than the rest. These “kick-off” farms will open at 12 p.m.

With so many great farms on the circuits, it can be challenging to choose which ones you want to see this year. Perhaps you want to prioritize which farms have animals? Or maybe you’re looking to hit up a few in the same area?

Throughout April, we’ll be rolling out tips on ways we suggest taking the tour on our blog. Additionally, we have a few tools that you can use to formulate a plan:

  • Piedmont Farm Tour Brochure/Guide – includes farm tour maps, directions, and descriptions of all the fun things to do at each farm!
  • Interactive Map to Plan Your Tour – for those who prefer something more interactive, this Google Map allows you to read about the farms, plan your stops, and get driving directions to booth days.
    • Different colors indicate different regions that we’ve broken the tour into (North, South, Central, and East).
    • Starred farms are kick-off farms, which we’ll be open slightly earlier than the rest of the farms.

A Few Things to Remember

  1. Respect the tour hours – the tour happens Saturday and Sunday, April 28 – 29, 2018 from 2 – 6 p.m. each day – RAIN OR SHINE. Farms are open from 2 – 6 p.m. on both days. Please don’t arrive before or after the tour hours.
  2. The tours are self-guided – visit any farm in any order! Start with the understanding that you will not have time to visit all the farms on the tour. A good plan: 3-4 farms per day, allowing 1-2 hours per farm. Pick a farm that most interests you and then plan additional stops nearby.
  3. Your button is your car pass – good for a carload of people. Your button gets you and whoever else in your car (friends, family, neighbors!) into all the farms on both days of the tour. You don’t need a button for each person. So, cram your car full of folks and head out for some farm, fresh fun! Cycling groups are welcome to use just one button too.
  4. No pets – sorry, no dogs or other furry friends allowed.
  5. Bring a cooler – many farms will have farm-fresh produce, meats, and other yummy things for sale. Don’t forget to bring a cooler with ice so you can stock up!
  6. Dress appropriately – wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and be prepared for muddy lanes and uneven ground. Bring your camera, sunscreen, snacks, water and rain gear, as needed.
  7. Have a great time! – feel free to tag any photos you take on the tour with the hashtag #piedmontfarmtour on social media or email them to Ashley See, our Communications Coordinator. We’ll post ’em on our Facebook page!
